Stockbridge, to the north of Edinburgh's city centre, has a village feel and charm. It has a definite Bohemian vibe and many artists, musicians, poets, writers and thespians have made the area their home. Young professionals and decades-long residents co-mingle in this delightful pocket at the bottom of the New Town, which stretches all the way to the plush realm of the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh. 

Stockbridge has a great mix of jewellers, galleries, second hand and gourmet food shops complemented by cosy cafes and restaurants. The weekly Sunday Stockbridge Market is a focal point for residents and visitors with a feast of fresh produce and artisan bakers and for high quality cheese pop into I.J Mellis. 

Two Michelin-starred chefs give ‘gastro-pub’ a good name at The Scran & Scallie - also worth a visit is Hamilton's. Long-standing and popular Ping On Chinese restaurant does the simple things very, very well indeed or try the Spanish influenced and homely Rafael's. With quirky décor, The Pantry delivers finesse on the plate and provides a fresh new addition into the area’s eateries.

Guest Access

The living room is large and comfortable with lots of natural light. The kitchen has all the modern appliances you would expect like washing machine, microwave etc and all the usual utensils are there if you wish to cook at home any evening when you are not heading out to sample the local cuisine. Iron and board, towels, linen, and wifi are in the apartment and are included in the rental.

Hair dryer is available in the bathroom cabinet but please place everything back for the next guest so it is convenient to locate. The beds are all new and so is the bedding.

New appliances like a Nespresso machine has been provided so please feel free to buy your own capsules before coming for that morning caffeine kick. Also, TV with DVD there to use, in case the weather turns a little bad, and you just decide to enjoy the comforts of the flat.

The Neighborhood

Stockbridge has something of a village atmosphere about it, although it is only a ten to fifteen minute walk from Edinburgh city centre. There are many restaurants and little quaint antique shops dotted around the area but yet it is a quiet and safe neighbourhood.

The surrounding streets offer a wide variety of amenities including a Sainsbury's Local (supermarket) and other specialist shops providing for everyday requirements.

Easy walking or bus access to Waitrose at Comely Bank and the Craigleith Retail Park is close by which offers a variety of High Street named stores and a large Sainsbury Superstore. The New Town and the designer shops and department stores of Princes Street and George Street are also located nearby in the heart of the City Centre.

The Royal Botanical Gardens and Inverleith Park are also located in this area. For the commuter, a frequent public transport system passes along the main road giving easy access to the City Centre with both Waverley and Haymarket Railway stations easily accessible. Spa treatment and nearby groceries are all nearby within 5 mins walk.

Getting Around

There is street meter parking but a car isn't essential to stay here as most places are within easy walking distance and the local bus service is excellent if you wish to go further afield.
The bus no 24 and no 29 round the corner takes you direct to Princess St.
The apartment is on the 2nd floor and there is no lift.
