Details

In a beautiful, charming English village in the midst of the South Downs National Park and within five minutes of the Seven Sisters Country Park, you will find the perfect holiday let where you can relax and enjoy the wild and beautiful natural surroundings of the Sussex Downs and coast whilst also immersing yourself in this lovely village.

Overlooking the historic village green and only a short distance to the sea at Birling Gap, this is the place to stay if you're attending an event, visiting family or friends, or just looking for a weekend getaway.

You'll love the cottage and the location right in the heart of the village of East Dean.  The village nestles beneath the Sussex Downs and is the perfect spot for nature enthusiasts, walkers, bird watchers, families and couples looking for a cottage to rent in a village close to the sea but also within easy distance of the town a few miles over the hill.

Location

An exceptional location right on the village green.  What could be better?  Adjacent to the green is a delicatessen, a good quality restaurant and a village pub, so no need to go hungry if you don't feel like cooking!

Right in the centre of the South Downs National Park, one mile from the coast, near to the Cuckmere Country Park and within 4 miles of Eastbourne and 8 miles of Lewes, the location is unrivalled.

Walk over the hill (or drive one mile) south to Birling Gap with its rich history of 18th century smuggling.  Then half a mile east up to the original lighthouse, Belle Tout, and a little further on to Beachy Head to look over the spectacular panorama to Eastbourne and Pevensey Bay.  From Beachy Head, if you look west you will see Brighton in the distance and Ditchling Beacon which is the highest point on the South Downs.  On the right day you will see the Isle of Wight rising up out of the sea to the West 60 miles away.

Walk or drive west to Cuckmere Haven and Cuckmere Country Park with its amazing example of the winding oxbow river.  Drive a few miles inland to Lewes with its narrow streets and buildings dating from the 13th century and with its unique tradition of marking 5th November.
