The home is nestled in the heart of the South Downs National Park and looks out on stunning views across the hills and forests of the area. It provides easy access access to Charlton Forest and close proximity to the Goodwood and Cowdray estates as well as the city of Chichester and nearby towns of Midhurst and Petworth.
This beautiful holiday rental cottage is an absolutely charming period cottage, dating to the 18th century and built in the classic flint style. It has a very large garden backing on to open fields and self contained parking. Loads of period details - a working 16th Century well, original fireplaces and a lovely wood burning stove (logs provided!). Galley kitchen with incredible views and spacious breakfast-dining room with farmhouse table. Four spacious double bedrooms. It is situated in the beautiful village of East Dean - the third of three gorgeous and friendly villages in the Upper Lavant Valley. The house is available for rent as a self catering property throughout the year as a base for exploring the South Downs and for visiting the numerous attractions and attending events which are held throughout the local area.
It is 2 miles from the world famous Goodwood racecourse, along with Goodwood House and the numerous race meetings throughout the year, including the yearly 'Glorious Goodwood' week , music events, antique fairs plus the vintage car extravaganza Festival of Speed. Chichester is a 15 minutes drive away and is bustling historical market town, with loads of pubs, shops and restaurants to enjoy not to mention Chichester Cathedral, ancient roman walls to stroll along plus the Festival Theatre. There is a wonderful pub, the Star and Garter in the village is a a minutes stroll away, which serves lovely grub and a great range of beers!

A range of condiments, herbs and spices will be there for you to use plus breakfast essentials for your first morning. There is a working wood burner (we will provide you with some firewood). Its all yours to enjoy (and respect!). Full linen and towels provided.
Interaction with Guests
We will arrange to meet you on site and give you the keys. The cleaner will come by at the end of the stay to exchange them back.
The South Downs is one of the most beautiful places on earth. East Dean is an extremely charming and friendly village. The local pub is a lively and friendly hub with an excellent gastro menu using locally sourced seafood and more.
It is a five minutes drive to the famous Goodwood Estate and Racecourse, a further ten to the historic market town of Chichester. There is also bus stop at Singleton, 2.5 miles away, which connects you to Chichester (and beyond to Brighton, Bognor, Portsmouth etc). The roads are fantastic for cycling with stunning views (on a clear day you can see Isle of Wight from the top!) so we highly recommend enjoying a bike ride. There are a range of taxi services which serve the area.
Price & availability
This extremely pretty holiday cottage is generally let on a weekly basis from Saturday to Saturday, however we will consider short lets on a 3 night minimum basis outside of peak periods such as the Festival of Speed, Revival Festival and the Glorious Goodwood week.
The following are indicative rates for rental, excluding special events and holiday periods such as New Years and Easter.
