The majestic mountains towering over the city of Granada and the surrounding Andalucian countryside are known as the Sierra Nevada. Famed as a ski resort, they're also beautiful throughout the rest of the year with an abundance of wildlife and simply breathtaking views.
The highest mountain range in Europe, behind the Alps, the Sierra Nevada is home to sheer sided mountains, glacial lakes, fast flowing rivers, even almond trees grow on the terraces of the foothills. And of course a fantastic ski resort with a variety of runs to suit everyone from complete novices to experienced skiers.
Apre ski, expect a lively scene with plenty of bars and clubs that keep going until the early hours. There's plenty to do for children here too, with a great activity centre featuring toboggan runs, archery, mini snowboards, a Russian sleigh and much more.
If you tire of wearing your snow boots, why not head to the beaches of the Costa Del Sol, just over an hour and a half away.
