The largest French region, the Midi Pyrenees is home to a wealth of heritage sites. From the 'Ville Rose', or 'pink city' Toulouse, the regional capital, so called because of the colour of its pink brick houses to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Albi famed for its medieval architecture and the Toulouse Lautrec art museum.
The Canal du Midi is a favourite with those who enjoy spending time on the water and the Pyrenees National Park, with its beautiful scenery and mountains is loved by hikers and climbers alike.
With villages and towns clinging dramatically to the mountain tops and of course the famous Catholic pilgrimage site of Lourdes, there's certainly a wealth of things to see and do here.
