Situated in the southeast of Split, Makarska is a small city on the Adriatic coast of Croatia.
Makarska is situated around a natural harbour protected by the peninsula of St. Peter and the city boasts beautiful landscapes and a 2km long sandy beach. This is the only harbour of its kind between the Cetina and Neretva rivers and has provided much needed protection for sailors and pirates in the past.
The harbour fills up with yachts and tourist boats during the warmer months, and a wide choice of restaurants, bars and cafés cater for the crowds.
A ferry runs a few times a day from Makarska to the island of Brac if you want to explore further.
The picturesque villages of Veliko Brdo, Puharici, Kotisma and Makar are all within easy reach of Makarska.
Attractive walkways are lined with pine trees and Makarska enjoys over 2,750 average hours of sun each year.
