Lake Como is one of the most beautiful lakes in Italy and offers stunning scenery and mountain views.
The clear lake varies in colour from dark blue to light green, depending on the sunlight, and when the lake is still the surrounding countryside is mirrored within it.
Lake Como is 45km north of Milan and trains run regularly from Milan to Como and the trip takes just an hour. High-speed hydrofoil ferries cross the lake from Como to Bellagio (around 45 minutes), and on to the lake’s northern tip at Colico.
The towns, villages and lake side beaches attract most holidaymakers throughout the summer to Lake Como. The winter months are much quieter but equally as spectacular with snow-capped mountains and blue skies.
Most international visitors arrive at Milan Airport which is just a 90 minute journey from the Lake.
One of the best ways to explore the Lake is by taking a ferry between the key towns of Bellagio, Varenna, Menaggio and Cadenabbia which offer a wide choice of attractions, including outdoor activities, award-winning restaurants and quirky shops.
