This former fishing village has become hugely popular with tourists, thanks to its beautiful setting and laid back feel.
Popular with families thanks to its lovely soft sandy beach and clear calm waters, along with the relaxed feel to the town, it's one of the quieter resorts on the Algarve and one people return to every year.
With a town square just behind the beach and just two main roads in the resort, it's a place where you come to relax and unwind, rather than somewhere with a heady nightlife, but there's still plenty of fun to be had. Watersports are available from the beach and if you'd like to learn to dive, there's a few diving schools here. Even the local fishermen make use of their boats during the day, laying on boat trips for tourists.
There's a huge selection of places to eat and drink, with restaurants, bars and cafes on every corner offering a wide range of cuisines to suit every palette. Carvoeiro is also within easy reach of a number of attractions including two waterparks and a zoo, should you wish to venture out of the town.
