One of the most popular resorts in the Algarve, Albufeira is a splendid mix of old and new.
The pretty old town perches on top of the sandstone cliffs overlooking the sea below, with whitewashed houses, shops, cafés and restaurants all vying for space among the pretty lanes. Modern Albufeira lies beyond that with its luxury hotels and apartments sprawling out across the headland either side of the town.
If you love beaches, you certainly won't be disappointed. Praia de Falesia is a real favourite among visitors to Albufeira with mile upon mile of golden sand. Backed by white and red cliffs and with plenty of beach restaurants and watersports, it's one of the busier beaches in the area, but it's easy to see why. If you're looking for a more secluded beach, head to Praia de Gale or one of the western coves near the town.
There's a lovely marina and lots of tourist attractions nearby, such as Zoomarine Algarve, paintball, horseriding, boat trips and more. As for nightlife, your trip to Albufeira can be as lively or as sedate as you want it to be, with a wide range of bars, restaurants and night spots to enjoy.
