The annual bicycle road race comes to Bergen in Norway, with riders competing against the best in the world. The UCI Road World Championships consist of 12 races spread over the 9 days. It features national teams representing several countries from around the world. The three disciplines are made up of a team time trial, individual time trials and the road race. The UCI Road World Championships form what is referred to as the Triple Crown of Cycling, alongside the Giro d’Italia and the infamous Tour de France. Since 1996 the professional race has become an open opportunity to include the best elite riders.

The initial time trials are due to take place in Askoy heading into Bergen on the Sunday, followed by junior races on the Monday. The time trials are held Tuesday through to Thursday, the road race then spread across the final weekend.
