The Big Cheese

27th July 2018 - 29th July 2018 | Caerphilly, Wales, United Kingdom

About the Big Cheese Festival

The history of Caerphilly goes back thousands of years, with the region being made famous by the medieval castle which can still be visited today. During the 19th century, the area gained a reputation for producing some of the country’s best cheese and as such now has the festival to celebrate.

It’s estimated around 80,000 people attend the weekend. Proceedings start with the Friday traditional Great Cheese Race before an evening of music, the travelling funfair and a spectacular firework display. The rest of the weekend hosts reenactments from Caerphilly’s past, animal marquees, a food festival, live music and craft stands.
