St Patricks Day in Madrid

17th March 2018 | Madrid, Spain

About St. Patrick’s Day in Madrid

St Patrick’s Day, which takes place on the anniversary of the death of Ireland’s patron saint, has been celebrated with parades and festivities since the 17th century. These days, it ranks as the most widely celebrated national festival of them all. Madrid has more Irish pubs than most cities and as such it’s a great place to celebrate Paddy’s Day. Last year, the city lit up key monuments like the Plaza de Cibeles Fountain and Puerta Alcala in bright green to celebrate Ireland’s big day.
