About Split Film Festival (Dates to be confirmed)

Now in its 23rd year, Split Film Festival is an event featuring non-mainstream films and is renowned for promoting radical and subversive creative works. The country’s oldest film festival, the focus has always been on creative and experimental works as opposed to cinema blockbusters. The festival welcomes guests from the world of independent film - Lars von Trier, Jonas Mekas and Claire Denis have all attended in the past. Awards are presented for feature-length and short film submissions and a special festival award is presented to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the world of motion pictures. The festival also features lectures, discussions and visual installations.
