The Seasplash Reggae Festival is a popular reggae event featuring the best in dub, ska, punk rock and reggae artists near the Croatian town of Pula. Nestled between the turquoise waters of the Bay of Pula and the pine forests of Brijuni National Park, the 19th century Fort Punta Christo plays host to some of the country’s best reggae artists across four stages. Confirmed artists for 2018 include Culture Shock, Black Star Dub Collective, Conscious Youth and UK collaborative Vibronics meets Conscious Sound. In addition to the music and splashing about in the sea, the festival programme includes workshops, lectures and sporting activities such as Dub Yoga. If you’re a reggae fan, don’t miss this one!
The Seasplash Reggae Festival takes place in Fort Punta Christo in Štinjan near Pula. If you’d like to attend the festival, fly in to Pula Airport. From there, take a taxi or hop on the convenient airport bus into Pula city. From Pula’s bus station, head for Štinjan. Early Bird tickets are now available at €75 for the full festival - you can buy them here. For further information on the festival and further line-up announcements, head to the official festival website.
Now in its 16th year, Seasplash is one of Croatia’s longest-running music festivals, known for its inclusive atmosphere and community spirit. One of the highlights of the festival is the workshop programme. Last year’s workshops included a complete history of soundsystem culture which is so integral to the spread of reggae around the world. Also spreading knowledge about how to produce your own videos using nothing more than your smartphone and some software was documentary maker David Tešić. For the curious DJs amongst you, the DJ workshop, which was particularly popular, is likely to be repeated in 2018.
