Scottish Grand National

21st April 2018 - 22nd April 2018 | Ayr Racecourse, United Kingdom

About the Scottish Grand National, Ayr

The annual horse race takes place at Ayr Racecourse every April. Attracting competitors from all over the world, the Scottish Grand National is the equivalent of England’s famous Grand National held at Aintree. Day one consists of the glamourous Ladies Day, with the Saturday hosting the main event. The total price fund to the winner is £210,000 and much more is spent by spectators at the book keepers. The races cover a 4-mile course, during which the horses jump 27 fences. First run in 1858 at an alternative venue, where the fences were made of stone walls, the Scottish Grand National transferred to Ayr in 1966.
