About Sant Jordi's Day
Sant Jordi's Day is the Catalonian equivalent of Valentine's Day and is a festival full of romance, roses and books, inspired by the legend of St George.
Legend has it that St George slew a dragon to save a princess and plucked a rose from a bush that sprouted at the spot where the dragon died. On Sant Jordi's day, men traditionally give their sweetheart a rose, while women give men a book and you'll find the book and flower stalls along Las Ramblas and Rambla de Catalunya extra busy on that day.
If you fancy a little romance from your trip to Barcelona, Sant Jordi's Day is the perfect time to visit this beautiful city.
