Sagres Birdwatching Festival is an established event organ 9ised to coincide with the autumn migration of a large number of birds across southern Europe. Located on the South Western tip of Portugal, the peninsula is the perfect place to view a wide variety of birds during their trip south. There is a large range of activities available to ensure you see the birds up close, including Seabird Watching trips and Off Road Jeep Tours. There are also some illuminating talks to give you a greater understanding of bird behaviour with a full programme of workshops and lectures on topics such as bird migration and the eating habits of owls. You’ll also have plenty of opportunities to explore the other wildlife in the area with coastal tours, dolphin watching and scuba diving among the activities on offer in the area.

Sagres is located in the Parque Natural do Sudoeste Alentejano e Costa Vicentina on the South West coast of Portugal. Now in its eighth year, the Birdwatching Festival takes place during the first weekend of October. To get to Sagres, fly into Faro and then take the one hour bus journey from Lagos to Sagres. When you arrive, head to the festival headquarters at the impressive Beliche Fortress to collect your festival bracelet.
