Paris Autumn Festival

1st September 2017 - 31st December 2017 | Paris, France

About the Paris Autumn Festival

Established in 1972, the Paris Autumn Festival is the city’s foremost contemporary arts festival and attracts over 100,000 to its events. Taking place in various venues throughout Paris and the île de France, the festival comprises exhibitions from the disciplines of music, theatre, dance, film and the visual arts. Last year’s highlights included Frank Castorf’s production of The Brothers Karamazov, Lucinda Childs’ choreography and Pierre-Yves Macé’s piece on song recycling, ‘Accords et Accrocs’. The festival is a great opportunity to check out some of the world’s greatest contemporary artists in some of the city’s renowned venues, such as the Centre Pompidou and the Jeu de Paume.

Making the most of the Paris Autumn Festival

While Paris is well-known for its collection of great art masterpieces such as those housed in the Louvre Museum or the Musée de l’Orangerie, the Paris Autumn festival is a great chance to support more experimental artists that otherwise may not have a chance to be shown. For example, last year’s cinema line-up was noteworthy for its inclusion of independent films. The festival is certainly the place to go if you’re looking to discover something completely new!
