The Palma de Mallorca Marathon is a popular annual road race which takes runners past some of the Balearic Island’s most beautiful sights. Rising to heights of almost 40 metres, the marathon course winds through the streets of the Old Town passing the stunning Cathedral and along the island’s coastline leading to the port. In addition to the marathon, which requires two loops of the course, a half marathon and 10-kilometre race are also held. If you’re coming to Palma with your family, why not get the children involved? A Kids Race is held on Saturday 14th October for those youngsters aged between 2 and 12 - what a great way to introduce your kids to the joys of marathon running!
The Palma de Mallorca marathon takes place on Sunday 14th October and starts at 9am at the Parc de la Mar, in front of the cathedral. If you’d like to take part in any of the races, you can register on the official website. The entry fees start at €15 for the 10-kilometre race, €25 for the half marathon and €45 for the full marathon. The registration charge increases as time goes on so the earlier you book, the cheaper the cost. You’re also required to rent a timing chip for €5 so that your official race time can be recorded. Whether you’re planning to spectate or participate in the race, fly into the island’s Son Sant Joan international airport and take a bus to the city centre.
There will plenty of opportunities to get to know your fellow runners during the event. The Pasta Party will take place on the night before the race from 1pm to 4pm, giving you a chance to stock up on vital carbohydrates. There is also a free after race party in the Mega Park in Playa de Palma from 8pm on race day.
