Mummers Day

26th December 2018 | Padstow, United Kingdom

About Mummers Day

The Cornish town of Padstow offers a quiet retreat during the busy Christmas period. Located on the banks of the River Camel, in the South West of England, Padstow is a lovely place all year round

In keeping with festive celebrations, on Boxing Day locals take to the streets for theatre and dance as part of Mummer’s Day. It is also referred to as Darkie Day, due to being in contrast to the white symbolism of the Obby Oss festival, the Summer equivalent.

The Pagan tradition is also a continuation of Winter Solstice, which takes place on 21st December.
