The largest gay pride celebration in Europe, Madrid Pride 2018 will mark the 41st anniversary of Spain’s first ever gay rights parade. This is a week-long celebration which takes over the whole city. Centred around the Chueca area of Madrid, you can expect seven days of parties, clubbing, live performances, conferences, parades, theatre, film and perfect weather. Come to Madrid and be part of the 3 million visitors expected to attend this massive party.
Madrid Pride takes place from 28th June to 8th July 2018. Most of the activities, including the live performances, take place around the city’s gay area of Chueca or at the Puerto de Alcalá. If you’re planning to attend Madrid Pride, the nearest airport is Madrid-Barajas which is only 12 kilometres from the city centre. As with many of the activities during the week, the main parade through the city’s streets is free to watch and starts at Atocha station. Certain events, such as the numerous after-parties on offer, are ticketed and we would advise getting your tickets early. You can view the full programme of events at the official website.
Madrid Pride is an event which brings the streets of the Spanish capital to a complete standstill. A family event with plenty of activities for children, the Pride parade features some wild and wonderful floats. The main stage party is always a big draw, with Kylie Minogue, Salt ’n’ Pepa and Patti Labelle having headlined in the past, and venues such as Fabrik, La Riviera and Teatro Kapital hosting large-scale after parties. In addition to the partying, Muestra T., the cultural arm of Pride, puts on art exhibitions, theatre performances and literature readings.
