About the Lisbon Half Marathon

First taking place in 1991, the Lisbon Half Marathon is a popular Gold Label Road Race which takes place across the city snaking past some of the capital’s most iconic monuments. Attracting a crowd of around 35,000 runners, this 13.1 mile race starts on the breathtaking 25th April Bridge, or Ponte 25 de Abril. The race has featured some high profile participants during its history with full marathon world record holder Haile Gebrselassie winning it in 2008. The 2010 race saw Eritrea’s Zersenay Tadese smashing the men’s half marathon world record which still stands to this day. Whether you’d like to participate in the race or spectate, there’s bound to be plenty to entertain you.
