The village of Lavenham is filled with medieval history, during which times it was one of the richest areas of the country. Its 15th century church of St Peter and Paul stands proud, among roads lined with medieval houses adorned with timbered beams.
In recent times the Lavenham Literacy Festival has become one of the villages most popular attractions. Taking place at several venues, the inviting setting of the Swan Hotel also holds the events Literacy Dinner.
Guest speakers at previous years have included English actor and author Sheila Hancock CBE, ex Labour Politician and journalist Roy Hattersley, along with historians Tracy Borman and Tom Holland.
