About the King George VI Chase, Surrey

The Boxing Day horse race is held as part of the 32Red Winter Festival at Kempton Park Racecourse. The King George VI Chase is a steeplechase in which horses and their riders jump a number of fences and obstacles over a 3-mile course. It is one of the biggest days on the racing calendar, in particular among the UK jump races. It was first run in 1937, the coronation year of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, which gave the chase its name. The race has attracted big names and famous horses such as 4 times winner Desert Orchid and 5 times winner Kauto Star.
