Throughout June to September jazz and brass events are held in the historic city of Cambridge, where you will also find the prestigious Cambridge University. Selected Sunday’s spread across the 4-month period will come under the Jazz and Brass in the Park heading. Hinton Hall Park and Jesus Green are both within a 10-minute walk from the city centre. Events at all the parks are free, taking place on Sundays from 3pm to 5pm, although the venues are open all day. Expect to find the electrified jazz bands in Jesus Green, brass bands in Hinton Hall Park and low key acoustic acts elsewhere around the city. The main parks have all the necessary facilities on site, including public toilets and refreshment kiosks.
As events are free and public places no need to worry about tickets. There are no age restrictions and the perfect place for a family outing, relax with the music or take the children to the play areas within the park. Picnics are welcomed and some parks have designated BBQ areas, although check if these are near the music or arrive early and eat first. Given the time slot for the live events are a brief 2-hour period expect music to start 3pm promptly. Check local listing that there is something on and be mindful bad weather may cause last minute cancellations.
