About the Istrian Wine Run

The Istrian Wine Run is a fun road race for which incorporates wine stops along the route during which you can taste the region’s finest wines. Open to professional and amateur runners alike, the race is an entertaining run through beautiful scenery while sampling the gastronomic and wine-producing qualities of Istria. As you can imagine, this is a very popular event, and the atmosphere is one of lighthearted fun with participants dressing up in all manner of costumes. And if you need an extra incentive to participate, the prize in each of the men’s and women’s races is an amount of wine which is equivalent to your weight! What are you waiting for? 

Helpful information about the Istrian Wine Run

The Istrian Wine Run takes place from 1st to 3rd September 2017 with the main race taking place on 2nd September from Momjan. If you’d like to attend this fun wine run, you can register for the event here. Entry fees for each of the races vary according to when you register so the earlier you book, the cheaper the fees - check out the fees here. In order to get to the venue, fly in to Pula Airport. From there, take a taxi or hop on the convenient airport bus to the main bus station Pula city and from there continue by bus to Momjan. 

Making the most of the Istrian Wine Run

As well as the main full marathon, there is a half marathon, relay race and a Kids Run as part of the programme. Once the races are over, there is a 6pm Pasta Party for all participants to refuel with essential carbohydrates and then it’s time to switch from running to dancing with the DJ spinning some tunes at 7pm. The awards ceremony takes place at 8pm with the all-important presentation of a large quantity of wine to the winner. Prizes are also awarded to the runner with the most original mask.
