About Hay Festival, Hay-on-Wye
The Hay Festival is one of the most popular literary festivals in the UK and is back in Hay-on-Wye from the 25th of May to the 4th of June 2017. This annual event attracts thousands of visitors from all over the globe, and is a real treat for book lovers. The festival celebrates the greatest written works from not only published authors but also comedians, scientists and lyricists.
From humble beginnings around a kitchen table in 1987 the Hay Festival has gone on to a full festival site, featuring stages hosted by the Telegraph and the BBC as well as food halls, cafés and restaurants. Described by Bill Clinton as “the Woodstock of the mind” notable speakers have included Stephen Fry, Desmond Tutu, Ian Rankin and even politician Boris Johnson.
