Held in the capital’s ExCeL Arena, Grand Designs Live is a large exhibition devoted to all aspects of home and garden improvement. Based on the popular Grand Designs TV series, presenter Kevin McCloud will be on hand to help guide you through the event. Whether you’re looking to make your home more eco-friendly or whether you’re lusting after high-tech gadgets to save you time in the garden, you’re sure to find something amazing for your house with over 500 exhibitors in attendance. The event features everything you’d expect from one of the world’s largest home shows, including celebrity experts, workshops, seminars, food and drink exhibitions and an all-important champagne bar where you can mull over your purchases!
Grand Designs Live is being held in the ExCeL arena in East London’s Royal Victoria Dock. The nearest station to the show’s entrance is the Prince Regent stop on the DLR (Docklands Light Railway). For those travelling by tube, head to Canning Town on the Jubilee line where you can change to get the DLR. The nine-day event is open from 10am to at least 5pm every day, extending to 6pm on certain days. We would recommend arriving early and preferably aiming to visit on a weekday so that you can beat the crowds for this popular event.
It’s certainly worth visiting the Grand Designs Live official website before you set off to the show so that you can narrow down the exhibitors and areas you’d really like to see. Making a repeat appearance this year will be the Grand Tech Hub, where you can find out the very latest gadgetry for your home. Another perennial highlight is Kevin McCloud’s Green Heroes area where you can find out who the top design guru has chosen to showcase the best in ecologically sound products. For those with green fingers, be prepared to get inspired by the entries for the Garden Design Competition and see if you can bring a little of the magic home with you.
