ETNOFILm is an emerging film festival which focuses on screenings of ethnographic and anthropologic importance from around the world. The festival features around 30 films and screens both amateur and professional works. Organised by the Ethnographic Museum of Istria, the event will be staged for the 10th time in 2018 and will be held in the Museum’s Multimedia Centre. The festival features a music and workshop programme alongside the film screenings. The workshops are a great chance to learn from the best - on offer is a series of masterclasses from experts in the field of anthropology and film-making.
ETNOFILm takes place over three days in April 2018. All films have subtitles in English and Croatian and the screenings are free of charge. The three-day festival also features a full program of music to keep you entertained once the films have finished. If you’d like to attend the film festival, there are a number of travel options available due to Rovinj’s unique location close to several major cities. The quickest option is to fly into Venice, take the train from Venezia Mestre to Trieste and from there take a bus to Rovinj.
If you’re planning to attend the film festival, keep a close eye on the festival website for the release of the official programme. One of the previous highlights was the evening of Classical Indian Dance which coincided with International Dance Day on 29th April. Recounting stories through the medium of dance, the festival welcomed expert dancer and choreographer Smt. Chitra Arvind to enchant the audience in the Antonio Gandusio Theatre. A further highlight was the closing party - a fusion of gypsy sounds, garage rock and funk dispensed by DJ Brown Sugar (Dr. Smeđi Šećer) in what was the perfect end to this diverse three-day festival.
