The Estoril Open is a men’s professional tennis tournament which takes place in the town of Estoril on the West coast of Portugal. This exciting ATP event draws big name players on the international scene, all battling to take home their share of the €463,000 prize pot. The 2016 final was won by Spaniard Nicolas Almagro over his compatriot Pablo Carreño Busta in an epic three-set encounter, lasting over three hours. Beating an accomplished field which included the likes of Nick Kyrgios and local favourite João Sousa, Almagro became the first Spaniard to win the tournament since 2010.
The Estoril Open takes place from 28 April to 6 May on the clay courts of the Clube de Ténis do Estoril. Devised in order to replace the former Portugal Open, this is a popular ATP World Tour event. If you’re planning to attend the tournament, you can buy your match tickets from the ATP website or from the Open’s official website. The best option to get to the tournament is to fly into Lisbon’s international airport on one of the many regular flights from the UK to the Portuguese capital. From the airport, take a 20-minute Aerobus ride to the Cais do Sodré main railway station. Trains from here straight into Estoril depart every 15 minutes and the journey takes around 35 minutes.
There are some great deals to be had on tickets at the tournament. Various packages are available including a 9-day tournament premium bundle which allows you to watch any match in the tournament from the best seats for around €220. Daily tickets are available from as low as €5. The daily sessions usually start at 12pm but there are also popular evening sessions from 6pm which tend to attract a bigger crowd.
