The Ebor Festival is a series of horse races at York Racecourse which are billed as the oldest, richest, fastest and most famous races in Britain. This four-day festival is the highlight of an exciting 2017 racing season at York and features the Juddmonte International, considered to be the best race in Britain. Thursday is Ladies Day where there are plenty of top prizes on offer on the Ebor Fashion Lawn for the best-dressed attendees. Friday sees York’s fastest race - you can be sure that the Coolmore Nunthorpe will get your heart racing for the start of the weekend. This exhilarating festival comes to a close in style with York’s oldest race, the Betfred Ebor, which has been thrilling spectators since the 1840s.
The Ebor Festival 2017 takes place from Wednesday 23rd August to Saturday 26th August 2017 at York Racecourse. The series of races are extremely popular amongst racegoers and you’ll see high attendance numbers as the gates open at 11am each day. Tickets for the races range from £10 to £280 depending on the raceday and the area - you can buy them in advance here. You can buy tickets on the day but make sure you arrive in good time as the Ebor often sells out far in advance. If you’re travelling by train, head for York station and hop on the shuttle bus which will take you directly to the racecourse. If you’re arriving by car, use the brand new park and ride sevice on Tadcaster Road - find out more info on the service here.
One of the best things about going to the races is dressing up for the occasion and this is what makes the Ebor Fashion Lawn so much fun. Set on the Weighing Room Lawn, watch or take part as the ladies strut their stuff in a bid to be judged the best-dressed racegoer.
