The Dubrovnik International Opera Festival is an annual event held in honour of world renowned tenor, Tino Pattiera. A Dubrovnik native, Pattiera is one of the city’s most famous sons and is fittingly remembered in this exciting festival. As well as paying homage to the tenor, the original object of the festival was to bring back large-scale productions to the city’s wealth of operatic venues and to support the classical arts. Previous performances have included The Barber of Seville, Don Giovanni, Cosi fan Tutte and a host of great Russian operas such as Prince Igor and Boris Godunov. The city itself is provides the perfect architectural backdrop to the world’s most beautiful operas.

The Dubrovnik International Operal Festival is a week-long event which takes place in various venues around the city. Tino Pattiera was one of the greats of early twentieth century European opera. Making his début in Dresden, his finest period was during the 1920s in notable performances in Verdi’s operas around Europe. Much revered in his hometown of Dubrovnik, one of Croatia’s most famous sons has inspired this popular opera festival. In addition to a wealth of performances which take place in some of the city’s most iconic venues, such as the Rector’s Palace Atrium and the Revelin Fort Terrace, the festival features masterclasses from some of the country’s top vocal coaches.
