About DocLisboa

DocLisboa is an international film festival held in Lisbon which is devoted to the screening of documentaries. Now in its fifteenth year, the festival has become an established part of the Portuguese film industry’s burgeoning presence in Europe. Showing investigative masterpieces from around the globe in some spectacular venues around the city, DocLisboa offers you the chance to see over 250 reality-based films. Last year’s winner of the ‘Best Film’ award was ‘Calabria’ by Swiss filmmaker Pierre-François Sauter, a piece documenting two men’s journey from Switzerland to Italy to fulfil an important mission. Helpful information about DocLisboa

DocLisboa takes place at various cinemas around Lisbon, including the architecturally impressive Cinema São Jorge and the city film museum, Cinemateca Portuguesa. You can buy tickets for all of DocLisboa’s screenings online here or at the venue on the day of the film if there are any remaining. Ticket prices vary according to the venue but are around €4 per showing with a discount if you buy five tickets at once. Making the most of DocLisboa

DocLisboa is not just about hard-hitting documentaries. You’ll also get the chance to let your hair down at the after-hours parties which take place each day of the festival. Offering up all types of music - from rumba to punk - Cuban bands, Brazilian favela funkmeisters and electronic pioneers have all provided late night entertainment at the festival. Lasting till 4am, the Opening Party will ease you into the proceedings and the Closing Party’s rhythms will undoubtedly have you booking your ticket for next year’s festival. Alongside the films and music is a host of exhibitions in the beautiful surroundings of the Gulbenkian Museum.
