The USA’s most famous music festival, Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival is a large-scale music event taking place in the Colorado Desert in California. The format is a three-day festival which is divided into two weekends - both with identical line-ups. The line-up itself is diverse - hip-hop, EDM, indie and rock are all well-represented and the organisers pride themselves on showcasing emerging artists as well as world-famous headliners. Last year’s artists included Guns N’ Roses, Calvin Harris and LCD Soundsystem as well as The Black Madonna and Skepta.
Coachella takes place over two three-day weekends - the first from 14th to 16th April and the second from 21st to 23rd April 2017. The line-ups for both weekends are identical. The easiest way to get to the festival site at the Empire Polo Club is to fly in to either Palm Springs International Airport or Desert Resorts Regional Airport which are within 30 minutes of the venue. Failing that,
you can get a flight to Los Angeles International Airport. From there, you can take advantage of the airport shuttle bus to transport you to the venue - more information on this, together with ticket information, can be found on the festival website.
If you’re planning to attend Coachella in 2017, make sure you’re prepared for the weather. Although the festival takes place in April, it does get ridiculously hot - it’s located in the middle of a desert, after all! However, as those who have been to deserts know, it can get very cold at night, so bring lots of layers to help you through all weather conditions. Another recommendation is to take as much money with you as you estimate you’re likely to spend - there are ATMs available on site but you don’t want to be waiting in long queues missing legendary performances such as Daft Punk at the 2006 Coachella.
Get the most of your visit to the festival by staying in the perfect rental accommodation for you. At Eventful Stays, you can choose to stay in apartments, hotels, spare rooms, townhouses or studios…all within reach of the festival site. Check out our accommodation in California.
If you’re planning on going to California for this mega-festival, why not stay a little longer to check out the sights in the Golden State, including: the San Andreas Fault; the Indian Canyons and San Jacinto Mountain.
