If you appreciate a good ale, then this is the place to be when visiting Oxford. With a wide selection of local and national breweries supplying proceedings, this is a chance to sample several beers on offer. From more common brews such as Hop Back Summer Lightning and Crop Circle, there are several Cambridge beers too. The event takes place in conjunction with Cambridge CAMRA (The Campaign for Real Ale).  Location for the Cambridge Beer Festival is Jesus Green, a public park along the River Cam. In 2017 an estimated 110,000 pints were consumed during the festival.

The nearest major international airport is London Stansted. From Stansted, you are only 30 miles away, with train and coaches available. It is easy to reach Cambridge from London and all other major cities. Getting to the Beer Festival just head to Jesus Green, north of the city, the festival attracts thousands and won’t be easy to miss. The event runs all week, with opening times to be announced. Children are allowed on site, although drinking adheres to strictly over 18s only.

With so many beers to choose from remember to drink responsibly. As such make use of the 3rd pint festival glasses, where you may normally buy a pint you can get to sample 3 beers for the price of one. Ensure you eat before or during the proceedings. If you are staying the day, then start on the lighter pale ales before moving on to stronger beers. As there are a number of micro-breweries involved these may sell out early, so try and get to the festival the beginning of the week. Check the weather in case you need to bring a coat.
