One of Europe’s most popular music festivals, The International Festival of Benicássim on Spain’s Costa de Azahar is renowned for its world-class headliners in the fields of rock and electronic music. Known as FIB in Spain, the event is famous for being a truly ‘all-night’ festival, with bands and DJs playing to large crowds until 8am each morning and revellers recovering on the beach during the daytime. This year’s line-up looks set to rival that of previous years which have included Major Lazer, The Chemical Brothers, Muse and Bob Dylan.
Benicássim Music Festival takes place in the town of Benicássim on Spain’s Costa de Azahar near Valencia. Valencia airport is the next closest airport, 90 kilometres away. If you’re travelling by train you can get a 30% discount on your journey from the festival website when you book online with national rail provider, Renfe. Benicássim, or Beni as it’s known by the regulars who flock there year after year, is rather unique amongst Europe’s music events. For those used to the 12pm start times of most UK festivals, it’s a welcome change to be able to spend the day by the sea catching some sun and be ready for the main stages to kick off at 7pm. With the music going on until 8am the next day, you really get the most out of your holiday. Another reason to head to Spain for this legendary event is the price - at €100 for an early bird ticket, it’s one of the most reasonably-priced festivals around, particuarly when you consider the stellar line-up.
