Formerly known as the Barcelona International Motor Show, this bi-annual event is the largest motor show of its kind in Spain. Widely recognised as one of the must-see motor events globally, the show will be completely revamped for its 95th appearance in 2017. The new exhibition will be divided into two sections, one dedicated to the latest automotive products and the other solely focusing on new automobile technology. You’ll still be able to see all the best features of last year’s show - learn how the latest cars are made, from sketching the design to full production, view eco-friendly electric cars and test your skills on the driving simulators.
The 95th edition of Automobile Barcelona will take place across nine days from 11th to 21st May 2017 (with 11th and 12th being open only to trade visitors). If you’d like to get tickets to the event, please head to the official website here. The show will take place at the Montjuïc exhibition space at Fira Barcelona near the centre of the city conveniently located near Plaça Espanya. If you’re flying in for the event, your nearest airport is Barcelona International Airport. From there, you can take the metro straight into the city and head to Espanya station or you can take the Aerobus for €5.90 one way.
If you’re planning to attend the 2017 Barcelona Automobile, it’s a good idea to check out the official list of exhibitors on the official website before you enter so that you can make sure you get time to see everything at this huge event. One of the highlights of the last show in 2015 was the Lamborghini Egoista - a futuristic concept car modelled on a jet fighter and created especially for Lamborghini’s 50th anniversary. Even Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy took some time to appreciate the model at the event. The urban mobility section is also popular - find out how to get from A to B in the most ecologically efficient manner.
