The Formula 1 Grand Prix makes its annual return to Melbourne and opens the year’s racing calendar.  The race has taken place in Australia since 1928, having moved to Melbourne in 1996 attracting over 300,000 visitors across the weekend. McLaren and Ferrari have won the most races, with Sebastian Vettel for Ferrari, having won in 2017.  The lap record is held by the legendary Michael Schumacher at just over 1 minute 24 seconds. With the Australian Grand Prix originally held in Adelaide, it was ex-racer Bob Jane that helped bring the F1 to his home city of Melbourne.

The nearest airport is Tullamarine in Melbourne and it is best to purchase a Myki ticket for getting around the City. General admission during practice and qualifying costs between €20 and €315. Race day tickets start from €45 and reach over €2,000 for the best seats in the grandstands. There are also tickets available for multiple days, or those aged under 17.
