It’s not all about historic buildings, the performing arts and fashion shopping when you visit Edinburgh. There’s always time for a bit of light hearted fun, check out these them parks and arcades in and around Edinburgh.

Nobles Leisure at Portobello Beach

Old fashioned seaside fun at Portobello Beach. Arcade games, penny slot machines and all a stone’s throw away from the promenade.

Portobello Fun Park

Staying by the sea for more fun in the park, there’s much more than just arcades and park rides. The perfect place to pick up an ice cream or portion of chips.

Tenpin Fountain Park

Fancy your hand at tenpin bowling or maybe you’re after a game of pool but can’t get on the table down your local pub. Tenpin Fountain Park is for those of all ages, plus with the amusement arcade open until late you can stay as long as you like.

Visit the outskirts of the city and the shopping complex of Ocean Drive in Leith, where you will find E-VR, Edinburgh’s Virtual Reality centre.

Perfect for the younger members of the family is the Egyptian themed Time Twisters. The soft play area has slides, ball pits, hidden tunnels and much more. You can also hire out for private parties, or relax in the on-site café.

Another one for just the adults, this chain has a number of casinos up and down the country. If you’re a member already you’ll know what to expect, but keep an eye on local listings for any special entertainment.


Finally, for the ultimate rides and fun of the fair visit Scotland’s Theme Park, M&D’s. You will have to venture further across Scotland to reach M&D’s, for it is in Motherwell rather than Edinburgh. It does however have everything thrill seekers need including rollercoasters, magic carpets, water rides and other attractions you won’t find elsewhere in the capital.
