Staywatch : looking out for the UK's best events and accommodation

A truly girlie royal wedding celebration for my daughter and I. We have been invited to a girls’ Royal Wedding Tea Party in the delightful rural idyll of Heythrop, Oxfordshire. As well as enjoying the company of other girlfriends we will be able to indulge in sweet fancies prepared by each of us. This will be a mouth-watering moment as the host makes and markets her own chocolate brownies (Blue Basil Brownies http://www.bluebasilbrownies.co.uk/) – all lovingly made with Divine chocolate. And yes, they are truly divine!!

Royal Wedding Treats

The order of the day is open sandwiches and a ‘glass of’ from 10pm to kick off the pre-ceremony followed by desserts and cakes on the lawn and of course, another ‘glass of’ in order to toast the happy couple and gossip about Princess Kate’s gown and the ‘Balcony kiss’!

In the same patriotic spirit, we also plan to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the Royal Festival of Britain which kicks off at the Southbank Centre in London. The building was constructed for the original extravaganza in 1951 and there will be various pop-up exhibitions, live performances, artworks and memorabilia displays from the original exhibition itself. For those wanting to visit the exhibition, it is on until 4th September and you can time it to coincide with Heston Blumenthal who will be presenting a ‘Great British Tea Party’ on 9th May. We will finish our celebrations in an Eventful Stays self-catering apartment in central London where we will round up with another ‘glass of’ http://eventfulstays.com/property/es139. Cheers William and Kate!!
