Well, the long Easter holiday will be upon us before we know it and we will yet again be wondering how we are going to juggle work with entertaining the kids.  Fortunately for me, my son is of an age where he can set about organising his own schedule – the only problem being he needs transporting!

So here is my quandary, should I take a few days off and go and visit family or find a great place to stay where we can invite friends who have kids the same age and they can then entertain themselves while we have some time to relax. Or, do I continue to try and play Mum in between responding to emails, telephone calls and going to umpteen meetings.  I don’t think the choice is very hard – a short break is what is needed.  So, the question is where to go? Here at Eventful Stays we are eagerly awaiting the marriage of Prince William to Kate Middleton in what is set to be one of the most memorable events of 2011. Not since 1981 when Charles and Diana were married has there been so much excitement around a royal wedding as we get ready to witness the future King of England marrying at Westminster Abbey.

Aside from finally getting to see Kate’s much anticipated dress, the wedding, which is taking place on Friday 29th April has been declared a public holiday! This means that we will have two four-day weekends in succession and for those who were quick off the mark, you may have booked 3-days off work to ensure an 11-day break over this period.

So, what are your plans around the royal wedding? Here at Eventful Stays there appears to be two camps; those of us who will be going to London to witness the occasion and those of us planning to catch it on television and book a break around these public holidays. Read the rest of this entry »

For live music fans it is important to plan ahead and decide which music festivals you want to attend in the coming year.  If you are a keen music fan you have probably already researched the festivals to see which acts and bands are playing where, how and when tickets need to be purchased and whether camping or accommodation nearby should be booked. For those of you undecided about which music festival is for you, it can be a hard choice as there are so many around. Below, we highlight a music festival with a difference, a family-friendly event and the must-see music festivals of 2011 to help in making your mind up. Read the rest of this entry »

Here at Eventful Stays we are big rugby fans and have been looking forward to the 6 Nations with interest and trepidation. But who is going to win this year’s competition? We have taken a look at the teams and made our predictions of who will win. Why not let us know what you think and whether you agree or disagree with our predictions and what your thoughts are on the rugby witnessed throughout the event?

England

England have been going through a transition over the past few years and a rebuilding exercise.  After a brilliant performance against Australia in the autumn hopes are high for the ‘new look’ England team in the 6 Nations. England has however, suffered a couple of injuries including influential captain and flanker Lewis Moody who will be unavailable for the first few matches of the tournament.  Eventful Stays’ one to watch is scrum half Ben Youngs and his brilliant passing. As spring approaches it’s time to think about the approaching cricket season and the mouth-watering events called Test Matches. For the aficionados these are five day games at famous cricket grounds in our biggest cities – London, Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham and Nottingham with one day internationals also being played in Cardiff, Southampton and Durham. Beating Australia in their own back yard to retain the Ashes has pushed England up the world rankings to third place. Success this summer against Sri Lanka and India would probably push them up to second place behind South Africa. Read the rest of this entry »

London Fashion Week is fast approaching and with such a huge selection of designer’s work to admire as well as the option to be able to visit the various exhibitors and even the chance to get my make-up done by professionals, I am counting down the days until this event starts.

This year at London Fashion Week the list of designer’s work being presented on the catwalk and the number of exhibitions is endless, with Christopher Kane, House of Holland, John Rocha and Mulberry as just a few of the big names being featured.  Ranges presented vary from clothes – both couture and ready to wear – to jewellery, shoes and accessories such as belts and bags. You are sure not to get bored because there is just so much to see and yearn after!  When visiting last year my highlight was definitely the catwalk.  You get to sit back and watch some of the coolest clothes and accessories get matched up together, sometimes in combinations that you’d never have though of. When you leave London Fashion Week I guarantee that you will feel inspired with ideas to suit your own style and way of dressing along with a great insight into the upcoming trends, so that you are in the know about what is going to be big in the Fashion World. My sister mentioned that she and her husband were off to start their climb of Mount Kenya on Valentine’s Day – so I dared to suggest the same to my husband who looked at me as though I had gone completely insane – what that says about my sister I have no idea!

Anyway, I now have to come up with an alternative plan – Mount Kenya is clearly out of the question and staying away for a week is equally not on my agenda as there are customers for whom we have to find the perfect place to stay for their romantic weekend!

With a myriad of places across the UK, the choice is enormous but, finding the perfect get away for Valentine’s Day is still not that easy. Read the rest of this entry »

As we slowly edge into the latter part of February it has occurred to me that this year we haven’t even had a chance to stop and reflect on the upcoming events of 2011 here at Eventful Stays. It’s been so hectic recently – first with the launch of our new website and then with our decision to launch a new Managed Booking Service – that none of us has been able to pay attention to what we really love… events!

Well, in the spirit of recklessness that can only be derived from the fact it’s Friday, I am putting my foot down and saying no more! Here are my top five events for 2011… Read the rest of this entry »
