Newcastle Racecourse

The Newcastle Racecourse first opened in 1882 and hosts a series of racing events all year round. The Betfred Eider in February is often used as an early warm up to the famous Grand National. The year then comes to a close with the Fighting Fifth Hurdle, considered a highlight among the jump season.

Originally built as an oval flat course, jump races are also held over the longer distances of up to 4 miles. The venue hosts themed racing events such as the Alice in Wonderland family race day at Easter. In June, there’s a chance to meet your favourite Star Wars characters, as part of Jedi Night.
