Located near Tamworth in Staffordshire, Drayton Manor Theme Park offers a variety of rides and attractions across an area of over 110 acres. The park welcomes around 1.5 million visitors annually to its popular rides which range from the exhilarating G-Force rollercoaster to the family-friendly Thomas Land, based on the famous Thomas & The Tank Engine book series. Drayton Manor also contains a small zoo with over 100 animals, including some endangered species. Opened in 1949 as a small family theme park with just a few rides, it has become one of the UK’s most popular and is still run by its founders, the Bryan family.
Overseas visitors can fly in to Birmingham International Airport and then take a train to Birmingham New Street and on to Tamworth Rail station where a bus can take you directly to the theme park. Car parking is free. Entry prices for those over 12 range from £23 to £39 depending on how far in advance you book them. There are discounts for younger children and free entry for those under 2 years of age.The park is usually open from 9.30am until 6pm with the rides starting at 10.30am. Please check with the park for seasonal variations.
There are several restaurants on site but do tend to get particularly busy from 12pm to 2pm. It may be better to eat outside of those times to save some time. If you plan to take a ride on one of the park’s water rides, such as Splash Canyon, don’t forget to take a splash mac with you!
