Blackpool Pleasure Beach is a large theme park situated along the Fylde Coast in Lancashire. Founded in 1896, its creator William Bean aimed to build a theme park that would make adults feel like children again. Following the introduction of a number of award-winning rides, Blackpool has become one of the UK’s favourite theme parks. Its classic ride is The Big One which was the world’s fastest rollercoaster when it opened. Other rides of note include Infusion, the first rollercoaster to be built entirely over water, and Wild Mouse, created in 1958 and one of the only wooden rollercoasters still in existence. The theme park is also home to a variety of family rides for younger children including Nickelodeon Land, which features rides based on characters from the popular entertainment brand. The Pleasure Beach additionally offers live shows such as Hot Ice, Ken Webster hypnotist and Russ Brown’s Carnival of Magic.
An Unlimited Ride Wristband, at £21 per adult and £19 per child if you book online, allows you full access to all rides throughout the day. Individual ride passes and sole access to the park is also available. Opening times do vary according to the day so please check the theme park website before you travel. Rail travellers can easily reach the theme park as it has its own mainline train station, Blackpool Pleasue Beach, which you can get to direct from London Euston as well as from other destinations throughout the UK. Blackpool is well served by airports with Blackpool International Airport just five minutes’ away and Manchester International and Liverpool John Lennon Airports around an hour away.
If you’re unlucky with the weather and it rains for more than three consecutive hours, you can come back the following day free of charge or for half price on any Sunday during the season (normally March to November).
